Womans Retreat with Swami Karma Karuna

Welcome to an exclusive small womans retreat at Trautskogen in Nord-Odal. Due to covid-19 we only have 7 spots. Swami Karma Karuna has the unique background both trained in a traditional ashram environment and also being a mother, a wife and running her own business. This enables her to relate to women of todays lives backed up by years of ashram training and supported by her studies in psycology.

Yoga and Sacred Feminine

Explore the archetypes of the Goddess in her different forms, Durga the transformative force, Laxmi the abudant quality, Saraswati the emobodiment of wisdom and other forms that connect one to their own innate qualities. Join a supportive circle of women to connect with the Goddess within. Use yoga, pranayama, meditation, mantra and yantra to expand and liberate the potential Shakti (inner force).

Yoga and Women’s Health

From fertility to positive body image, yoga and meditation tools can bring so many amazing benefits to a woman’s health and well-being. Males and females are built differently and also carry distinctive emotional and mental imprints, therefore it's important to be able to tailor yoga to each gender. Delve into the theory and practices designed for women to balance and optimize the physical, mental and emotional aspects of their unique bodies at different stages of life. Learn self-nurturing and energising techniques, explore a women’s natural cycles and gain ability to apply this inspiration to your own life.

In this retreat, we look at some yogic management techniques related to health and wellbeing issues for women including areas such as menopause, menstrual irregularities, blocked emotion and other angles depending on students in the class.
- Asanas (postures for the female anatomy and emotions)
- Bandhas (pelvic floor and core exercises)
- Mudras (gestures to conserve and raise energy)
- Pranayama (breath techniques to balance and calm the mind)
- Meditation (tools for coping during life’s challenges)
- Mantra & yantra (tools for removing blockages and move the energy, see Kali yantra and Durga yantra images above)

Accomodation

Accomodation is simple. The guest house has three bedrooms, in addition we have a campervan in the garden and we are borrowing our nabours “stabbur” -it is the same as a little cottage.

You will get a single room unless you are traveling with someone, then you can share a room.

Karma Yoga

Karma Yoga is the yoga of dynamic meditation. Through Karma Yoga, qualities such as being present with the action, witnessing the inevitable thoughts, and remaining unattached to the results of the action can be perfected. Karma Yoga is performing each task with meditative awareness. In this existence, we cannot live without acting, as thought, speech, movement are all part of action.

All participants are invited to join in contributing to the Retreat through the practice of Karma Yoga. We invite you to bring a new quality to your everyday actions through seeing “work” in a new light. The attitude developed during the practice of karma yoga can be brought back to your life thereby transforming daily living into conscious living.

There will be one hour Karma Yoga a day, the task may be cleaning, chopping vegetables, doing dishes or setting up the table for the next meal.

Food

All meals are included in the price of the retreat. We can accomodate for allergies or food intollerance, just let us know in advance. All food is vegetarian, but we do use dairy and eggs. Let us know if you are vegan -we can cater for that.
